Oh Hai!

This just in.  Hell has frozen over and pigs are flying.  Cats and dogs are getting along all over.  Some are even showing the love in public.  Gasp!  What next?

Totally Cute

Oh Hai!

Cute is clearly in the eye of the beholder.  When I entered the search term “totally cute” into Google, many clearly non  cute things come up.  You be the judge of these “totally cute” animals.  Do they make the grade?  Enjoy!

Friendship Knows No Species

Oh Hai,

Some of these pictures are clearly staged, some are chance encounters caught on film that may or may not have ended in dinner, others are stories of true friendships, all are adorable and heart warming.  We could learn something from animals.

Are You Really A Failure if You are Cute?

August 13, 2009 Leave a comment

Oh Hai,

I just wanted to recommend a great website.  It is called Fail Dogs.com.  It is an off shoot of  I Can Haz Cheezburger.com and Fail Blog.com.  I like it better than Fail Blog because it combines the hilarity of the failure with the cuteness of dogs and other animals.  Sometimes, however, I am not sure why the dogs are categorized as failures when they are just so damned cute.  See the example below:

Anyway if you love cuteness, check out Fail Dogs.com.  It will definitely improve your day.

A Quick Cute for Thursday

August 5, 2009 Leave a comment

Oh Hai!

I know I should not think that these baby chicks are cute. It can’t be good for the chicks to be dyed like this. But, as I am viewing this from afar, I can’t help it. These colorful balls of chickdome are simply adorable. wed
All I can say is, I hope they used animal safe dyes. In case these candy colored chicks are not your thing, I have thrown in a second cute animal for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy.

Why Can’t We All Just Get Along Like These Animals?

June 24, 2009 Leave a comment

Oh Hai!

I wish we humans were as accepting and caring as some of these animals who took in babies of other species because they needed some tender loving care.  The world would be a much better place if we followed their examples.

surrogate1In China a dog named Huani suckled three baby tiger cubs who had been rejected by their mother.  She continued to care for them until their appetites out paced her ability to produce milk.  Huani’s Story

Lisha and the Cheetahs

Lisha and the Cheetahs

At the Cango Wildlife Preserve in South Africa a Labrador Retriever named Lisha has played surrogate mother to over 30 animals including cheetahs, tigers, and hippos.  Lisha’s Story

Jasmine

Jasmine

At the Nuneaton Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary in Warwickshire, England a grey hound named Jasmine welcomes all new arrivals at the sanctuary.  She has become the sanctuary’s resident surrogate mother to animals of all sorts including rabbits, foxes, badgers, and guinea pigs.  Jasmine’s Story

Anjana

Anjana

At the TIGERS (The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species) in South Carolina, a two year old chimpanzee name Anjana is caring for two white tiger cubs name Mitra and Shiva.  She gives them bottles, lies with them, and generally acts a surrogate mom.  Anjana’s Story

 Siamang Gibbon

Siamang Gibbon

And last, but certainly not least, a stuffed camel is acting as surrogate mother to an abandoned Siamang Gibbon at Noah’s Ark Zoo in Bristol, England.  The little Gibbon has become so attached to the stuffed animal, that she cries like a human baby if it is out of reach.  The Gibbon’s Story

Let this be a lesson to all of us.  There is plenty of love to go around.  If the animals can do it, so can we.
