Late On Cute Animal Sunday
Despite the late hour, I still got this cutey in on cute animal Sunday. For your oohs and aahs I present Matschie’s tree kangaroo.
These cuties live in the mountanous rainforests of north eastern Papua New Guniea. They spend most of their time in trees where they consume leaves, bark, flowers, shoots, insects, and moss. They are solitary creatures that can jump over 30 feet down to the next tree. When necessary they can jump up to 60 feet without injury. Like the more familiar Australian Kangaroo, the babies are born live and then crawl into their mother’s pouch where they grow and mature for about 350 days. Unfortunately they are an endangered species. There are approximately 76 in captivity in North America and 1400 in the wild.
Thank You For Your Consideration,
The Graham Ten
