Glass Frogs – The Amazing See Through Wonder

June 18, 2009 Leave a comment

Oh Hai One More Time!

I just ran across a rather amazing creature known as the glass frog.  These tiny little doods have transparent skin along their abdomen that allows you to see all the internal organs.  Crazy.  It is amazing what mother nature can do. They are an endangered species, but apparently a recent scientific excursion to Ecuador uncovered more of these amazing little creatures along with some other oddities and never before scene species.  For more information on the expedition read the  following article See Through Frogs.

A similar see through frog was created by Japanese scientists in a lab.  These frogs were created as a learning tool.  So generations of kids would no longer have to dissect frogs in Junior High School Biology.  Instead they can study the frogs internal organs simply by observing  a live transparent frog.  Some sticky scientific questions arise with the manipulation of a frogs DNA to make it see through, but they certainly are interesting questions.  Myself, I would rather let nature create these amazing animals.  Nature does it better than any laboratory ever could.

Cute Animals are Hard to Resist

Oh Hai!

I don’t want to become known as the cute animal lady, but I get lots of response to cute animal pictures.  I am a sucker for any cute furry thing.  Here are some more cute animals for your enjoyment.

I am not even sure what some of these cuties are.  I do know, however, that many of them are endangered.  We just can’t afford to lose any cuteness from the world.
